About Us

Why Sarker Danceworks?

Sarker Danceworks is a modern, inclusive dance and fitness school based in Winchester, Hampshire, built around community, confidence and the joy of movement. We offer both group and one-to-one Dance and Fitness classes for Adults and experienced young adults, alongside additional specialist opportunities and support for children.

To us, it is so much more than just a class.

At the heart of Sarker Danceworks is a love for movement, music and people. We believe dancing is about so much more than steps and technique, it is about feeling the music, feeling alive in the moment and allowing yourself the freedom to truly let go and be YOU.

This is a space where you can move without judgement, grow in confidence and feel supported exactly as you are.

Whether you are stepping into a studio for the very first time, returning to dance after years away, looking for a new hobby, building confidence, training professionally or simply wanting to move more and feel better, you are welcome here.

We strongly believe it is never too late to start dancing and never too late to come back to it either.

For adults, Sarker Danceworks is a place to reconnect with yourself, take time for YOU and experience movement in a way that feels uplifting both physically and mentally. Our classes are designed to make people feel stronger, happier and more energised, because fitness should feel good for the soul too.

For experienced young adults who miss taking challenging dance classes and continuing their training, Sarker Danceworks is also a place where you are NOT forgotten. There are opportunities here for you too. Mature young dancers from the age of 16 are warmly welcomed into our experienced young adult classes, where we have created a supportive and encouraging environment for dancers to continue growing in their training. We truly believe age is not a limit, and that mature teenagers and adults can work beautifully together within the same class environment - something that works incredibly well within the Sarker Danceworks community.

For children, Viki offers supportive one-to-one training sessions tailored to each individual child’s goals, abilities and confidence levels — whether that is building technique, preparing for auditions and exams, supporting professional training aspirations or simply helping a child grow in confidence through movement and performing arts. Alongside Sarker Danceworks, Viki is also Principal of Theatretrain Winchester, offering performing arts classes in singing, dancing and drama for children and young people in a fun, supportive and inspiring environment focused on confidence, creativity and teamwork.

Whilst the current timetable has a strong focus on adult classes, Sarker Danceworks proudly teaches and supports all ages and abilities through one-to-one sessions, workshops, school sessions and specialist training opportunities.

If you are a parent or guardian looking for supportive training for your child — whether that is to help them build confidence, gain more movement experience, prepare for auditions, work towards ISTD examinations or support professional career pathways within the performing arts industry - Viki would absolutely love the opportunity to work with them.

Some students come to classes and one-to-one sessions simply for fun, confidence and enjoyment. Others come with focused goals and professional aspirations. No matter the reason, the love and passion for dance is something shared between everyone who walks through our doors.

At Sarker Danceworks, we believe dance is for every body and everybody.

You may arrive for fitness…
But you’ll leave with so much more.

✨ A sense of belonging
✨ A boost in confidence
✨ A supportive community
✨ A space that feels like yours

One of the most beautiful things about Sarker Danceworks is the community created within the room. We truly believe we all learn from one another all the time and that includes me too. Every person brings their own energy, experiences and personality into a class, and together we bounce off one another, inspire one another and continue growing together.

Sarker Danceworks is a safe, supportive and compassionate school dedicated to nurturing self-belief in each and EVERY individual.

Belong. Be you. Own your groove.

“Be yourself — that’s your superpower.”
— Viki Sarker, Principal

VICTORIA SARKER
PRINCIPAL OF
SARKER DANCEWORKS

Hi, I’m Viki — the face behind Sarker Danceworks.

I’ve always loved to keep busy, stay active, and take on a challenge. With over 20 years’ experience in the dance and performing arts industry, and around 14 years of teaching experience, dance has truly shaped who I am and continues to inspire everything I do.

I’m a two-time World Champion Tap dancer, having performed internationally in both Germany and America, and I hold a Level 4 Diploma in Dance Education in ISTD Tap and Modern, alongside a Level 3 Personal Training qualification. Dance, movement and wellbeing have always been at the heart of who I am, and I love helping others discover confidence and joy through movement too.

But what truly drives me is people.

In an industry that often focuses heavily on children, I believe adults deserve just as much encouragement, opportunity and space to move, express themselves and rediscover their confidence. My classes are not about perfection, because perfection doesn’t exist. They are about connection, confidence, community and celebrating what your body can do.

Dance and movement have the power to completely shift how someone feels. You can walk into a class stressed, overwhelmed or lacking confidence and leave feeling uplifted, energised and more like yourself again. Seeing the friendships formed, confidence built and joy created within my classes is one of the most rewarding parts of what I do.

Sarker Danceworks continues to grow and evolve each year, adapting to where there is demand and where I feel I can make the biggest impact. While my Sarker Danceworks group classes are gradually moving more towards adult dance and fitness, I still very much teach and support children and young people through other areas of my work, alongside offering one-to-one sessions for any age and any ability.

Some students come for one-to-one sessions to build confidence, to try something new or simply to have focused support in a comfortable environment. Others book sessions to help prepare for auditions, professional training, ISTD examinations or to support their long-term career goals within the performing arts industry.

Although I may not currently offer regular children’s group classes in Tap, Ballet and Modern under the Sarker Danceworks timetable, I am fully qualified and highly experienced in teaching these styles and am always happy to help with enquiries wherever I can.

Alongside my group classes, I continue to support ISTD students through exam coaching and personalised one-to-one training sessions both in person and online.

I also teach multiple classes each week at En Joy Fitness on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays. En Joy Fitness is another welcoming, community-led fitness space that offers fun and inclusive classes designed to help people move more, feel good and enjoy exercise in a supportive environment.

Alongside Sarker Danceworks, in 2025 I proudly took over Theatretrain Southampton - a performing arts school offering singing, dancing and drama classes for young people aged 4–18. Since taking over, the school has grown from 28 students to around 75 students, an increase of over 160%, and it has been incredible to watch the confidence, friendships and opportunities grow alongside it.

My latest exciting ventures...

From 18th May 2026, I’ll be teaching classes at Thrive & Wild in Winchester, a beautiful community-focused wellbeing space that brings together inspiring local businesses, creatives and wellness professionals all under one roof. You’ll find Sarker Danceworks alongside many other amazing companies, all supporting one another and building something really special within the local community. Community, connection and creating positive spaces for people is such a huge part of what I do, which makes Thrive & Wild the perfect fit for this new chapter.

My biggest announcement is the launch of Theatretrain Winchester, opening in September 2026. Building a brand new performing arts school from the ground up is both exciting and challenging, and I’m passionate about continuing to spread the word about the positive impact the performing arts can have on young people. If you are interested in classes for your child, you can find more information and book a trial through the website.

Outside of teaching, I love a challenge and always try to keep up with different hobbies too. I’ve completed a marathon, and more recently I’ve found myself learning all about birds and gardening! I also have two budgies at home called Twinkle and Kiwi who definitely keep life entertaining, and I’m trying to get back into reading for leisure whenever I can find the time.

Whether you’re stepping into a dance class for the first time, returning after years away, training towards exams, or simply looking for a place where you can truly be yourself — my goal is always the same: to create a welcoming space where people feel supported, empowered and inspired to keep growing.

Your journey starts here — at any age, any level, and with whatever groove you bring.

Abi has been dancing since the age of four and has trained in a wide variety of styles including Ballet, Contemporary, Jazz, Tap, Musical Theatre and Commercial. She graduated in 2023 with a First Class BA (Hons) Degree in Dance from the University of Winchester, where her training focused predominantly on Contemporary and Jazz dance whilst also giving her the opportunity to work alongside a number of inspiring industry professionals.

Throughout her years as a dancer, Abi has performed with companies such as the English Youth Ballet and Avant Garde Dance Company, as well as having the incredible opportunity to perform on stage at the O2 Arena.

Abi first began working alongside Viki and Sarker Danceworks in 2024, initially teaching school dance sessions as well as SEN-focused Zoom classes. Her calm, caring and encouraging nature quickly made her a valued part of the team, particularly in creating supportive environments where children and young people feel comfortable to express themselves and grow in confidence.

In 2025, Abi also joined the teaching team at Theatretrain Southampton, where she has continued to inspire students through her creativity, energy and passion for performing arts. Abi also choreographed routines for Theatretrain Southampton’s performance at the Royal Albert Hall — an exciting and memorable achievement for both the students and teaching team.

Alongside her work with Sarker Danceworks and Theatretrain Southampton, Abi also works across several dance schools throughout Hampshire and has experience within events work, helping her develop a versatile and adaptable approach to teaching and performing.

Abi believes dance is about so much more than technique and performance. Being part of the industry has taught her just how unique and special every individual is, whilst also showing her the importance of self-love, confidence and inner belief. These are qualities she is passionate about inspiring in the next generation of dancers.

Abi brings a warm, positive and approachable energy to every class and loves continuing her own training too, regularly attending Contemporary and Commercial classes at Sarker Danceworks on Wednesday evenings.
