Service Description

Fluid movement, raw emotion and freedom to truly express yourself. This Contemporary class is recommended for dancers aged 15+ and mainly accommodates experienced young adults and adults who want to continue exploring movement, creativity and performance in a welcoming and inspiring environment. Our current class age range is approximately 17–35, creating a lovely atmosphere where dancers of different ages and experiences learn from and inspire one another. At Sarker Danceworks, we truly believe dance is about the passion, artistry and energy in the room — not simply age. Mature teenagers and adults work beautifully together within this class environment, helping create a supportive and creatively open space where dancers feel comfortable to express themselves. This is a free work-based class where Viki explores a variety of Contemporary styles and techniques, including release technique, fluid movement, abstract choreography and more dynamic and expressive work. Classes are taught to a wide variety of music styles — and yes, Viki even takes music requests for routines too! Contemporary Dance developed during the 20th century and combines influences from a range of dance genres including Ballet, Jazz and Modern, allowing dancers the freedom to move with emotion, individuality and creativity. This class is a fantastic opportunity to continue developing technique, strength, flexibility, musicality and performance quality whilst also simply enjoying the freedom and feeling that Contemporary Dance can bring.
